Far from what you would expect from a small country Pumpkin stand, Thistle Downs Farm in Granville NY is so much more!

I had the pleasure of meeting Kayla, her Boyfriend Jon, and her Dad, Terry Wheeler when I stopped by Thistle Downs one sunny Fall afternoon. We needed pumpkins - and they had the selection I was hoping for! We quickly learned why they’re more than just a small family pumpkin farm!

Thistle Downs Farm used to have a Country Gift Store in their barn that Terry refurbished almost 30 years ago, and it was run by him and his wife, Kayla’s mom, Jackie. Some people in the community will still remember when it was open!

Fast forward 3 decades, and Terry and Jackie, with the help of Kayla and her Boyfriend Jon Marable too, have reopened the Country Gift Store, and this year will be their 2nd year having customers again!
They are slowly growing organically, and adding more things to the store and the farm each year.

Kayla makes beautiful items out of macrame that hang around the gift shop for purchase, they’ve grown a wide variety of pumpkins and gourds in their garden, they’ve built a pretty incredible corn maze, and there’s even adorable goats that you can visit and feed while you’re there!

My Son, Liam had a great time meeting the goats, and they were adorable! They let him feed them some corn from their corn field.

Thistle Downs Farm really loves their community, and is grateful for their continuing support.
Last year they held their first Farm Festival, and it was so successful that they realized they HAD to have another one this year!
On Fri & Sat, October 22-23, they will have their 2nd Annual Thistle Down Farm Fall Festival!
Last year there were around 30 different Vendors, with hundreds of guests that showed up!
30 or more Vendors will be there again this year selling things from crafts, to home goods, to delicious food! There will also be live music, corn maze fun, animals, and more!
This year’s Fall Festival at Thistle Downs Farm will be something you and your family won’t want to miss!

They have a 6 acre UFO-Themed Corn maze, where families can enter and collect up to 12 ‘aliens’ using a provided checklist along the way!

The UFO in the corn maze was built by Terry Wheeler, who has an incredible talent for building things.
One of the first things you notice when you pull up to Thistle Downs Farm is a giant Skeleton holding a pumpkin! What you may not know though, is Terry built that by hand! The big sign at the beginning of their corn maze was also built by him. The unique details like that are what truly sets them apart from the rest.

The Wheelers love to give back to the community that continues to support them.
They plan to donate for the 2nd year to Haynes House of Hope, a volunteer and donation based hospice also located in Granville NY. Last year they did a successful item drive, and plan to do it again this year.

You’ll want to keep an eye on Thistle Downs Farm! They always seem to have a plan, are working hard on adding new and exciting things, and we think they’re doing a wonderful job! You’d be missing out if you didn’t check them out.
