20 Places to Beat the Heat this Summer in the Adirondacks!

Your guide to find great swimming spots with your family this year!

Now that it's summer it's finally time to swim! I know we definitely all miss it after these loooong winters, so here is a guide to      places to go swimming & beat the summer heat here in the ADK's!


Hudson Falls Community Pool






The Hudson Falls/Kingsbury Community Pool is open to all residents! A great place to cool off, you'll find bathrooms for your convenience.
No food or drink allowed inside. They ask you wear a mask right now while not in the pool.

Address: On Corner of Burgoyne Ave and Franklin St. Across from the Kingsbury Firehouse parking lot. Hudson Falls, NY
Hours:  Monday-Friday from 11:00 am-6pm until August 20th.
No reservations are required.

Gurney Lane Recreational Area






A 6,200 sq. ft outdoor pool with 1-meter diving well and slide! There is a 1,300 sq. ft shallow area that is perfect for younger children too. A bath house is available with restrooms, showers, and a locker area with storage. A concession area is also on-site offering snacks, ice cream, and cold drinks. The pool is typically open during the summer months. Children under 5 and seniors 60+ do not have to pay the small daily admission fee.

Million Dollar Beach






Lake George's finest public beach is free and includes a bath house, lifeguards, and food concessions. Bring a picnic lunch and beach umbrella and make a day of it.

A public boat inspection station, boat wash, and boat launch are located adjacent to the beach area.

Lake George's Dog Beach






Address: Runs along the shoreline between the Lake George Steamboat Company and Million Dollar Beach in Lake George, NY. 

Hours: Every day, 7am-8pm

There is no fee to use the beach, but please be sure to pick up after yourself and your dog to make sure that the beach is in good shape for future use.

The unofficial beach has been sponsored by The Dog Cabin for the last several years, and now includes waste disposal stations. On any given day you'll find dogs playing and swimming in the water while their owners relax on the grass and sand leading down to the shore. Visitors should note that there are no lifeguards on duty here.

Shepard Park Beach

Shepard Park Beach is owned by the Village of Lake George and is located in the heart of the Village.
It includes a sandy beach and swimming area, public restrooms, a 'foot' shower, and a playgroind. It is FREE to swim. Shepard Park Beach

Usher Park Beach






Usher Park Beach includes not only a  Beach, but also has a Park, Playground, Picnic Area, Tennis & Public Restrooms.

This public beach is quieter & ideal for parents with small children who are concerned with safety, as it has shallow water. It features a picnic area, tennis courts, playground & restrooms.

Calfs Pen Swimming Hole






Calves Pen is the most popular cliff jumping spot on Lake George. On a sunny July or August Day, typically you can find up to 20 crazy people who want to jump from one of the three levels of cliffs. The only access to Calves Pen is by boat.

There are at least 4 different heights to jump from. Boats can get close enough to watch and wait without interfering with jumpers. Easy swim to shore from a boat. Takes some courage from the top platforms. It's definitely high up!

Gull Bay Beach






This little beach is one of our personal favorites!

Gull Bay Beach/ Boat launch is a cute, sandy beach with a gorgeous view of Lake George and some of the beautiful buildings along the shore. A perfect, quiet place for parents to relax and lay on the beach, while the kids play!

Hours: Open throughout summer. No lifeguard, swim at your own discretion.


Fort Edward Public Pool  & Bradley Beach





Swimming lessons will be held Tuesday-Friday on July 19-22 and July 26-29 for the Pool.
They will run from 11-12 o’clock. The pool will then open to the public at noon. These are available to Town and Village of FE residents. Please register at the Town Hall on Broadway beforehand.

Bradley Beach* is located just behind the Fort Edward Community Pool.  Here you are able to launch canoes and kayaks.  

In addition, there are picnic tables and charcoal grills.

The Washington County Beach at Huletts Park






Huletts Park features tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts, a playground, picnic tables, docks for small boats, and a large pavilion. General admission is FREE

Please note, there is no admission to the beach or to park, but if you park at the Hulett's Landing Marina parking lot the cost is $12.

Wayside Beach Lake Luzerne






A great, quiet and small beach to have a picnic with the family! The kids can swim while you launch your canoe, kayak, or small motor boat. This beach has a large parking lot and is FREE!

* "Insider" tip: Paddle the flat water to the far side of Lake Luzerne and you may be lucky enough to hear the sounds of strings, woodwinds, and piano drifting across the water. That would be the students at the Luzerne Music Camp. And if you like what you hear, the camp offers concerts in July and August that are open to the public!

Moreau Sandbar Beach






Sandbar Beach offers a picnic area at the beach and is for swimmers and beach-goers. You can also rent the pavilion at the rec park.

Access to the beach is located behind the South Glens Falls DPW off of Saratoga Avenue (Route 9).

Sandbar Beach offers a picnic area at the beach and is for swimmers and beach-goers. You can also rent the pavilion at the rec park.


Morry Stein Park & Beach at Echo Lake






Morry Stein Park & Beach offers a swimming beach staffed by lifeguards throughout the summer, a pavilion available for reservation, picnic tables, playground equipment, and a basketball court.

Please, no swimming without a lifeguard! Reserve the pavilion through the Warrensburg Town Hall.

Town Of Horicon Public Beach






This beach offers the chance to relax for a while and unwind. Visitors can participate in celebrations, sunbathe, listen to music, have a picnic, meet with some friends, meet new people, or simply just smell the flowers and enjoy the scenery!

Brant Lake Public Beach






Grab your family, pack a picnic, and go for a swim at Brant Lake Beach! This small beach, located on Mills Pond, has a medium-sized swimming area, a floating raft, and lifeguards.

Rogers Memorial Park Beach






Rogers Memorial Park Beach features a lifeguard-monitored swimming area, grills, tennis courts, a public pavilion, docks, bathrooms, and other amenities.
The swimming area is wide and shallow, making it perfect for kids. The water gets deeper farther from the beach.

An attendant at the park will collect a $5 parking fee per vehicle. Visitors are welcome to park elsewhere in town and walk and enter the park free of charge.


Veteran's Park






There are docks available at the beach, as well as public restrooms.

At the park's recreation area, you'll find:

  • A public pavilion
  • Picnic tables and grills (available on a first come, first served basis)
  • Basketball court
  • Playround

Parking costs $5 per vehicle at the beach. However, visitors are welcome to park elsewhere in town and walk and enter the park free of charge.

Hague Town Beach






There is a Music in the Park summer concert series that takes place each year. Vendors, Live Music, and Fireworks during 4th of July!
There is lots of room for laying in the sun, having a picnic, a playground, and bathrooms.

Loon Lake Public Beach






A well-maintained, recently-renovated sand beach with a small swimming area. The shallow and deep zones are marked and a raft floats in the deep section. There are also benches, a grassy picnic area, and small boat launch for non-motorized vessels.

This public beach is perfect for swimming, fishing, and paddling with views of gorgeous mountains beyond Loon Lake.
