Local Playgrounds & Parks in the Adirondacks Guide

Playgrounds and Parks are a super fun way to spend these long summer days!

Now that there isn't school to fill most of the days, it can be hard to think of what to do with the children in our life. It's easy for them to go a little stir crazy at home. Kids love to explore!
So we put together a guide of all of the great local playgrounds and parks (even some beaches!) so you can plan lots of fun days together as a family, outside this summer! And the best part..... it won't hurt your wallet!


Crandall Park







They recently installed a new Splash Pad last year!

At Crandall Park you'll find a playground, softball, & soccer fields, brand new basketball, tennis and pickleball courts, and a new disc golf course.

You can also walk or a hike on the trails, or just pick a spot out and have a picnic on a nice day.
Some people fish in their pond, and there’s even a fishing derby in the Spring.

Hovey Pond Park





Hovey Pond Park is a great place to get some exercise and enjoy the sun. The small pond contains a variety of fish! There is a nice little walking path going around the pond, a marshland walkway, and observation decks. The fishing dock has handicap access.
There is a small playground for kids and picnic tables scattered throughout the park.
Beautiful floral gardens are built and maintained by the Friends of Hovey Pond. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Gurney Lane Recreation Area





This park spans 150+ acres, with room for all types of Recreation!
With a an outdoor swimming pool with a slide, a 13 mile-long mountain bike park, picnic pavilion & tent with tables and grills, playground, basketball court, and pond for fishing, it's a great place to spend the day with the family!

They also have concession, walking/hiking trails, and restrooms.

Post-Season Hours: 8/22-9/5: 11:00-6:00 PM

Pond-  Fishing is allowed, age 16 and under only.

    

Daily Admission Rates:

Children age 4 & under: FREE

Ages 5-59: $5.00

Seniors 60+: Free

Sagamore Playground & Park





Sagamore Street Park in Glens Falls has a playground, basketball court, picnic area, tennis court, and community garden. 

No Smoking or Dogs allowed.

Hours: Open all day every day.

Haviland Cove Beach & Park






Enjoy Haviland Cove Beach & Park has a nice Beach, and encourages folks to swim, kayak and fish along the water.
HOWEVER :( **the swimming area is closed for the 2022 season, due to a dam maintenance project.

But you can still have a picnic, play on the playground, or check out nearby hiking trails. They also offer a softball field, and picnic/BBQ Pavilion!

*You must live in Washington County to go to this Park.

Murray St Park






Murray St Park In Glens Falls has 2 Softball Fields, 2 Basketball Courts, lots of open land, and a Playground!

West End Park






West End Park is a three-acre park in Queensbury with a playground, picnic tables under a shelter, a youth baseball field, and a basketball court. Families, kids and leashed dogs are welcome.
The playground is ideal for ages five and up and includes multiple slides, climbing structures, a bridge, and more, including a side swing set with two swings and a tire swing.

Parents can hang out in the shade at the picnic tables, or on nearby benches

This park is popular and can get busy during the summertime, so make sure to have a backup plan for another Queensbury park if the parking lot is full.

East Field Park






East Field Park offers a Picnic/Barbecue Pavilion, Playground, Baseball Stadium, Swimming Pool, Showers, Pond for fishing,  2 Basketball Courts and lots of open land.

Hours: 5a-8p

Pavilion Reservations: Pavilions are available for reservation at East Field. The open air shelters are equipped with cooking grills. Reservations are first come, first served, and are available through the Recreation Department. Call (518) 615-0446 for more information.

Mullen Park





Enjoy a newly renovated playground, playing fields, recreation center, tennis, exercise loop, and access to bike trails

Harry J. Betar Jr. Recreational Park





Offers Playgrounds, Pavillions, a Splash Pad, and an ice skating rink during the winter!

Location: 19 Jan Avenue within the Town of Moreau.

Montcalm Street Park




Montcalm Park offers multiple playgrounds for children, 2 basketball courts and field space. It is located in a neighborhood in the city of Glens Falls, NY. Pack a lunch to enjoy on the picnic tables in the pavilion.

The park is run by the Glens Falls Recreation Department and provides restrooms and a recreational field house.

Ridge/Jenkinsville Park






Local sports leagues like to use the athletic fields and facilities here. They offer a playground, picnic tables, basketball court, pickleball courts, concession/vending areas,  softball field, and restrooms.

Usher Park





Usher Park offers 2 Pavilions (with electrical outlets) , one large and one small, picnic tables, playground equipment , a tennis court, a basketball court, and a beach! *Only open when Lifeguards are on duty
The beach is also softer and more shallow than the Lake George or Shepard Park beach.

The pavilions have electrical outlets available. Pavilions must be reserved. Restrooms are located at the top of the park.

Facilities at the park include two pavilions (a large one for groups of 40-150, and a small one for groups under 40), picnic tables, playground equipment, tennis court, basketball court and beach. The pavilions have electrical outlets available.

Beach is available when lifeguards are on duty, which is during the summer season.

Gannon Park




A park with a seasonal splash pad for toddlers and young children, swings, a small basketball court and grassy area.
