Wednesday June 1st - National Say Something Nice Day |
On "National Say Something Nice Day" we have an opportunity to make the day extra pleasant for everyone.
On July 31, 2011, the president and CEO of the Charleston, South Carolina Speech and Hearing Center, Mitchell Carnell, published a short Amazon book called “Say Something Nice: Be a Lifter!” This is where this National Day first originated.
The purpose of this holiday is to bring awareness to the effect of our words. There is that old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". But today, you can take it one step further by saying something kind, or positive instead.
It's an opportunity to talk about bullying as well. Talk to your kids about the power of their words, and how important it is to talk to others nicely- not only today, but always!

Thursday, June 2nd - National American Citizenship Day |
It was on this day in 1924 that the Indian Citizenship Act by Congress granted citizenship to all American Indians born in the U.S. The day celebrates the history, heritage, and culture of American Indian tribes across the country. All the tribes have their own traditions and beliefs. American Indian Citizenship Day celebrates their contribution to the country’s culture and a reminder of their enduring legacy.
A great opportunity for education, learn more about this National day here.
