Parent's Night Out Destinations in the Adirondacks

Great! You have a night off from the kids...now what to do?

By Andrea Kelley June 3, 2022

Spending time together as adults, without the kids, is an essential part of the family dynamic, that has plenty of benefits. Everyone needs a break sometimes from our tiny, adorable, full-of-energy humans. Most licensed professional in the field of psychology and relationships would agree that at least once a month, parents should do some sort of 'date night' together, to maintain the health of their relationship.

So when you finally get Nana, or a babysitter to take the kiddos, you're left with figuring out....what to do?

If you don't feel like staying home and relaxing (although that's one of my personal favorites),You'll probably need some ideas for fun things to do together, as a couple of adults! So here is a list we've put together, to serve as ideas for local activities you and your partner can do together.

Day Time Activities

Escape Room LG

Escape Room LG is an "Escape Room" Adventure you can do with your family or partner!

An interactive experience that is supposed to challenge you and your teammate(s) using a variety of codes, clues, and secrets that must be unlocked in order to gain access to the next room! You can pick from an array of themes, such as "Blackbeard's Brig" and "The Curse of the Evil Genie" , there is an adventure for every kind of person!
It's especially a great idea as a rainy day plan, and will help you build trust and create a unique memory together!

Minimum price for a 60 minute escape room is $100.00 for 2 to 3 players, $30 each additional player.
Minimum price for a 15 minute mini escape is $30.00 for up to 2 players, $15 each additional player.

Natural Stone Bridges and Caves

Located in Pottersville NY, this is a one of a kind experience, where you can really take in the beauty of a real Adirondack natural wonder!
The massive Stone Bridge is the LARGEST marble cave entrance in the eastern U.S. and is still being carved by the beautiful Trout Brook.

Set forth on a self-guided nature trail and learn all about the ancient Adirondack geology. You'll see Waterfalls, Artists' Gorges, incredible potholes and of course several surface caves. You can also descend into the (lighted) caves on your journey! A fun adventure you'll remember with your partner for years to come. You can decide to take the kids the next time you go, or savor that experience for yourselves!

Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course

For the more adventurous couple, you can spend a day at the Adirondack Extreme Adventure Courses!
Pick between (or do all) activities such as Zip Lining, River Tubing, and Tree Top Obstacle Courses!

The great thing about this, is you can bring the kids too! You don't have to save this only for a kid-free day. But it will be a different experience if you do so.

Tickets start around $50, depending on the package you pick.

Food Trucks

And finally, for a more casual dinner, and pocket-saving experience, try out one of the Food Trucks in the area, like the one on Thursdays in Glens Falls,

The Thursday Market & Food Truck Corral is hosted by The Shirt Factory, and runs every Thursday night.
You can spend a good portion of your evening here, as it's not just a food truck, but a combination of farmers market, flea market, and craft market at The Shirt Factory in downtown Glens Falls.  Multiple Vendors and a rotating schedule of Live Music will probably make this Food Truck your new favorite thing to do on Thursday nights!
